Photography Club in action
Photography club is attached to the SFL EPS Extra-Curricular activities team. Apart from photography club, the following clubs are active this semester.

4. EPS Newsletter club
5. Photography club
On Wednesday (21st of March), Preparatory School Photography Club members, under the guidance of Senior Instructor Eren Kufi, went on a photography expedition to Buyukkonuk. The participants were Ozge Simsek, Fatma Demir, Gulsen Canan, Murat Bagdatli and Emre Poyraz.

SFL shares experience and expertise on CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) at the Ministry of Education

On Friday, 23 March 2012, SFL Assitant Director, Cigdem Tuncergil and SFL Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) Chair Pembe Nurcan Garip gave a seminar on CEFR at the Ministry of Education. State school teachers who are going to work on the committee responsible for aligning the English curriculum to CEFR in primary, secondary and vocational school education attended the seminar. In the seminar, Cigdem and Nurcan shared SFL experiences in revising the General English and Academic English programmes based on CEFR. Chief inspector Berna Yılmazoğlu Özdoğa thanked everyone for attending the seminar but especially SFL representatives and SFL for sharing their knowledge and experiences as well as for agreeing to help them as consultants whenever they need support.

EMU SFL Domestic Violence CIP raises money for charity
Doğa School Parents’ Committee together with Sosyal Riskleri Önleme Vakfı organised a fair at Namık Kemal Square to collect money for the first shelter in North Cyprus being built for abused women. Betul Eren, as a member of both the parents’ committee and SFL CIP working group, invited CIP Domestic Violence group students and teachers to this event. Together with their teachers, Filiz Bodi and Sevdiye Toker, students put a lot of effort into preparing for this Fair. It was a fun day for students and although it was a tiring day, they were content at the end of the day because they had raised money for a good cause.

SFL promotes City & Guilds at GTMK (Gazimagosa Turk Maarif Koleji)
GMTMK was visited on 8 March by Cemil Saricizmeli and Metin Kannur to inform teachers about City & Guilds International English Qualifications. Teachers asked questions about the content, levels, and procedures. Staff expressed interest about this and stated that they would like to use it with their students. GMTMK administration also expressed interest in becoming a City & Guilds Satellite Examination Centre.
SFL promotes all International Exams and City & Guilds in Namik Kemal High School

Cemil Saricizmeli and Aygun Ozyahyalar visited NKL (Namik Kemal High School) on 7 March to inform students about the international exams offered in SFL (School of Foreign Languages) and to give a detailed talk on City & Guilds IEQs. The talk was attended by around 150 12th year students along with their teachers.

EMU SFL represented at the Youth Workshop
EMU was represented at the Turkey and TRNC Youth Workshop both by academic teaching staff and students. Senior Instructor Filiz Bodi represented the School of Foreign Languages at the workshop organised jointly by the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC Ministry for National Education, Youth and Sports and the Directorate of Youth and Sports. The workshop was held in Girne on the 10th-11th February.
The main theme of the workshop was Opportunities in/for Higher Education. Workshops were held simultaneously under the headings of ‘Youth Infrastructure’, ‘The Social Life of Youth’, ‘Health, Sports and Environment’, ‘Ethics and Human Values’ and ‘Democratic Awareness and Participation in Democracy’.
The workshops focused on the problems, solutions and stake holders related to the solutions. At the end of the workshops a summary of the 2 days work was documented.
